“I enjoy seeing what goes on and the activities on offer in the centre – it is quite an incredible set up, with lots going on. It is a major part of life in Hendon.”

Carnegie Community Corner

In 2014 with the backing of over 200 local residents we successfully tendered to take over a local Branch Libarary building on a 25 year lease at nil rent from Sunderland City Council. A year later we secured a 5-year BIG Lottery, Reaching Communities award of £428k to extend community services from our new building, Carnegie Community Corner.

Since opening Carnegie Community Corner has supported over 2,800 individuals and is an anchor for the people of Hendon. Our team of volunteers and staff are deeply committed to the area and passionate about making Hendon A Stronger Community.
